In December 2025, Ubi will mark its 15th anniversary. When David Collins founded Ubi back in 2010, the hope was simple – bring telecommunications and connectivity to businesses in the South West with a level of service and care that felt personal.
Over those years, what’s grown has been more than technology, more than fibre, cloud phone systems, guest WiFi or unified comms. It’s been a team that’s evolved: engineers, support staff, innovators, sales people – each one bringing their strengths and a commitment to listen. It’s also been a community of customers: local businesses of all sizes, service providers, charities, schools, hotels – all putting their trust in us, helping shape what we do, and making us better at what we do. We owe our success to this partnership.
Of course, the landscape hasn’t always been easy going.
We compete against national giants and global multinationals, navigate political and economic turbulence, and see accelerating change, especially with the rise of AI. Our sector is increasingly dominated by large-scale operators with impersonal systems offering services at volume rather than providing intricate value.
That’s not, nor ever will be, how we see things. We believe that technology should serve relationships, not replace them; that being local means more than location – it means knowing the names behind the phone, understanding the pressures, and being able to respond to those fast.
Throughout these 15 years, we’ve stayed true in putting the South West first. Not just in where we work, but who we work with: from our procurement choices to how we deliver service right across sectors. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved but more so grateful for our team, past and present; and for our customers, who could have gone elsewhere, but chose us and trusted us.
So as we approach this milestone, we simply want to say thank you. To the South West business community: thank you for believing in us and for growing with us. We hope to continue being a partner you can count on for another 15 years and beyond.
